Following the sale of TAB to PIA Group, Matthias took on increasing executive responsibility and ultimately served as COO of PIA's digital agency division. The division included approximately 600 employees and operated within a broader private-equity-owned group of around 1,500 employees across digital agencies, transformation, CRM, e-commerce and feed management.
At group level, Matthias worked with holding management, C-level leadership and PE stakeholders across strategic discussions, operational steering, restructuring and sale-preparation phases. During 2020–2021, he was involved in a major restructuring phase. During 2022–2023, he contributed to the preparation and strategic positioning for a potential group sale.
In addition to his operational leadership role, Matthias was involved in corporate development and M&A activities within the group, including the evaluation and acquisition of additional companies. He participated deeply in due diligence processes, contract negotiations and transaction discussions, working alongside internal leadership teams, external advisors, auditing firms and due diligence partners such as KPMG, EY and others.
PIA worked with major enterprise clients including Porsche, Müller, MediaMarktSaturn, Mercedes, Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, DZ Bank, Postbank, Cosnova, Segmüller, Allianz, RTL, Ernsting's family, Lufthansa and many others.
